The Sports Weekend is the highlight of every vet school’s social calendar, where all of the UK and Ireland vet schools descend on one host city, clad in their finest fancy dress, for a fantastic weekend of sports, socialising, and copious amounts of alcohol.

This year everyone's in for a treat as the hosting duty is passed across the channel to Dublin. 'Craic, sport and Spraoi (fun)' is the Irish students’ mantra - this is a Sports Weekend not to be missed.

The weekend will officially kick off on the Friday night with the masses flocking to the famous Wright Venue for a night of top class partying.

After Liverpool’s hard efforts last year to make the sports day actually about sports, we searched far and wide to find a venue that we think has the facilities to make the matches competitive. After all, we want to give the supporters something to celebrate. The day will be filled with lots of fun and activities before heading off on the infamous 'Pub Crawl', during which our committee has planned to show everyone what the Irish bars are really all about. The final venue will be the perfect place for one last session and promises to be an unbelievable night.

Then our charming hosts will drag you from your beds on the Sunday morning kicking and screaming to fill you with some Irish breakkie before sending your sore heads and confused faces back across the channel to contemplate all that was DUBLIN AVS SPORTS WEEKEND!

This weekend is all about getting to know other students both in your college and from the others throughout the country, and whether it is a friendly conversation about a match or a shared story over a drink, we guarantee you will come away feeling like you are part of the 'Veterinary Community' more than ever.
